Paul has more than 25 years of experience in international Human Resources including leading the Canadian Human Capital consulting practice for a major professional services firm. He consults on international Human Resource matters and improving the return on investment in people. He works with Boards and executive management on compensation, has implemented global reward systems and led multi-culture change initiatives, global asset management strategies for pension and savings plans, established captive insurance companies for managing employee benefits and global employment entities for effecting mobile talent programs.
Paul has worked with Japan Tobacco International (formerly RJR Nabisco) as Vice President, Human Resources, led the global reward practice at Alcan, globalizing HR practices following the merger with Pechiney and as interim HR lead at AngloGold Ashanti in South Africa. He also led the HR teams in the $8 billion acquisition of RJR International by Japan Tobacco in 55 countries and the $12m IPO of Novelis Inc., with the task of identifying $20m of savings from a global rationalization of HR activity.
He is a former member of the Conference Board of Canada’s Council of Human Resources Executives, in addition to other Human Resource advisory roles and speaks regularly at conferences in North America and Europe, his articles on human resource issues are published internationally and he was formerly editor of a major reference work on international human resources.
